Women In Tech

Women in Technology

Cloud & Security Bootcamp!

Demand for technology jobs is growing in South Florida, where the technology industry contributes $22.3 billion to the local economy. In a recent survey by Inc. 5000, women make up 59 percent of the total workforce but average less than 20 percent of the tech jobs with major tech companies.

Women in Tech (WIT) is a collaboration among CareerSource South Florida, TechLaunch Academy, and the YWCA of South Florida to help close the gender gap by increasing the number of women in technology careers. This program provides a fully paid tuition to qualified women to gain targeted and relevant IT training, industry certifications, real-world experience, and job placement opportunities.

The 16-week bootcamp style program will be delivered in a blended format (face-to-face and online instruction). The program covers some of the following courses and prepares students to sit for industry-recognized IT certifications:

CompTIA A+® is the starting point for a career in IT. Learn foundational IT skills across a variety of devices and operating systems.

CompTIA Network+® provides the essential skills needed to design, configure, manage and troubleshoot any wired and wireless network devices. Learn key cloud computing best practices and service models.

CompTIA Security+® Provides a global benchmark for best practices in IT network and operational security, one of the fastest-growing fields in IT.

This course will provide foundational level knowledge on core Azure concepts; core Azure services; core solutions and management tools; general security and network security; governance, privacy, and compliance.

Learn how to manage Azure subscriptions, secure identities, administer the infrastructure, configure virtual networking, connect Azure and on-premises sites, manage network traffic, implement web apps, and more.

Soft Skills for IT Professionals

Soft skills are critical for any aspiring professional. We will provide a variety of soft skills training to ensure they are not only a technical match but also a cultural match to today’s workforce. Soft skills can often be the difference when employers are making decisions on hiring, retaining, and promoting employees.

After Course Completion:

Upon successfully completing the 16-week training bootcamp, participants will be provided with a 4-week paid internship with a local company looking to improve their ability to create a more diverse tech workforce and provide graduates with real-world IT experience.

After Graduation:

After successful completion of an internship, participants will be paired with a TechLaunch Academy Student Success Advocate to receive career counseling and job placement assistance.
